A Thursday on stage

Through the summer many concerts occur, but this Thursday evening, July 30, you will have the possibilities to choose between three free, live music performances in the OKC metro area.
Yukon Concerts in the Park
At 7:00 p.m. the Oklahoma City Symphonic Band will perform at one of the most attended concert series, The Yukon Concert Series, at the Chisholm Trail Park, located at 500 West Vandament Avenue.
Composed of hundreds of musicians, the Oklahoma City Symphonic Band has been playing since the late 1970’s. Usually, the band plays at venues such as high schools, universities, churches and area parks. Since 2004, the band has been led by the talented, multi-awarded, Dr. Mark G. Belcik.
A mix of broadway, pop, rock, country, movie, marches and patriotic music, including a variety of songs such as Liberty Bell by John Philip Sousa or Alan Silvestri:A Night at the Movies, will be performed by the band.
Midwest City Concerts in the Park
At 7:00pm the last event of the Twilight Concert Series will be the Zero2Sixty classic rock band. This exhilarating event will take place at Joe B. Barnes Regional Park, situated at 8700 E. Reno Avenue, Midwest City.
The band formerly called, « Fusion » was founded by Mike “Dudz” Dudzinski. Originally, in 1998, he was a bass player excelling in the art of smooth jazz. Other talented artists, Micelle Lopez, a vocalist, and John Carnuccio, a lead guitarist/vocalist perfected the band’s original sound.
As the years passed, the band’s music morphed into mainly classic rock. To complete this new music mantra, the band added Cam Mclain, a guitarist/vocalist, and Burke Martin and Mike Duncan on bass/vocals.With the new music came a new band name “Zero2sixty”.
This collection of talents allows Zero2sixty to cover more than one hundred of songs from several artists including, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac or Joe Walsh.
Edmond Concerts in the Park
From 6:15 – 8:45 p.m., at E.C. Hater Park the sun will set on the Edmond Concerts Series with one final must-see event, jazz extraordinary, Claire Piersol and Michael Fresonke band.
First to take the stage is Claire Piersol’s band. While studying at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA, she performed as a guest artist and replacement in several jazz bands. After Piersol won several awards, she recorded four CDs with the Mighty Aphrodite Jazz Band. Now living in Oklahoma with her husband, she teaches at Piedmont High School.
The Piersol’s Band will play a mix of hot jazz, classic jazz, New Orleans style, swing, and familiar jazz standards from the 1930s-1950s.
With music degrees from Oklahoma City University and UMKC’s Conservatory of Music,  Michael Fresonke is a composer, performer and producer. To compliment his talent, his band is composed of Courtney Crouse, vocalist, Brian Dailey, drums, Chris Black, bass, and Rob Stokes on the sax and clarinet.
They will perform music Jazz classics, such as Don’t Get Around Much Anymore, Honeysuckle Rose and Ain’t Misbehavin.
